24th October: Roe deer on Lindisfarne

Visitors are sometimes surprised to hear that a number of roe deer can be seen on the island, especially in the farmland near Holy Island main car park. They are spotted here most days by the Reserve team while carrying out the daily checks of the cattle among the dunes.

You can get fantastic views of the deer with binoculars or a telescope from the Reserve next to these fields. Pick up a leaflet from the main car park or from Beal which has a map of the self-guided nature trail for you to follow - some spectacular wintering birds can also be seen on the Reserve now.
