Short-eared owl released

The owl we reported on last week has been released back to where it was found. After a weeks recouperation at Berwick Swan and Wildlife Trust we went to pick it up and release it. When we were transfering it into our carrier the difference from when we dropped it off was obvious. Before being fed up it had lost alot of it's body weight and was quite placid. Now it looked suitably annoyed and was showing that through it's beak and claws!! We drove it down to Budle Bay and met with the lady who had found it before releasing it. A great end to the story.

Opening the travel carrier to release the owl.

Flying to freedom. It was thought to have an injured wing but as you can see it was raring to get flying.

Flying towards budle bay.
